Since 2021, PEQON has specialised in delivering boutique dewatering systems, from High-Rate Thickeners and Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filtration to next generation Filter Presses and Modular Containerised Pilot Plants, designed for optimal performance, operational flexibility and rapid deployment in demanding environments.

PROJECTS

PEQON has extended its capital equipment portfolio in dewatering, to include materials handling and conveying systems as an integral part of the overall solution offering available in Tailings Management.

In 2024, North Mara Gold Mine, operated by Twiga/Barrick, successfully installed and commissioned the materials handling conveyor system that was designed and supplied by PEQON. The 250tph design has a total conveyor length of 220m configured as two filter press cake conveyors and two separate transfer conveyors that feed the backfill paste plant for the underground distribution system (UDS) at its Gokona Pit.

In 2024 and 2025 PEQON successfully designed and supplied several dewatering modules for a recommissioned copper plant siutated off the mainlaind of Canada. The dewatering applications include copper and pyrate concentrate, as well as copper tailings.

Our project portfolio continues to add to the reach and value offering of the PEQON brand both locally and abroad.

Large Scale Tailings Dewatering

Safer tailings management starts with an ESG mindset and the right technology. This requires an innovative approach and a high-performance dewatering solution. Dry stacking offers a safer and more sustainable alternative to traditional tailings dams and requires the adoption of mature systems.

International filter press manufacturers are now developing and testing large scale units with smart technology and intelligent systems that can relay real-time performance data via remote access.

Large scale filter press installations are set to spearhead the global initiative for dry stacking of tailings offering substantial

environmental and safety advantages.
